Feedback - Blech!

I've decided that feedback on your stories sucks. You only get it on rejected pieces and so it is normally bad.

Yeah I know - what doesn't kill you and all that malarkey, but I think I would prefer to live in blissful ignorance believing that everything I write is pure gold.

I think I see why Editors don't like giving feedback - it's because it pisses people off!

And another thing - who, gives: a damn" about punctuation anyway!!!! Editors are the only ones who remember all the rules and then take evil pleasure in pointing out the mistakes of innocent writers.

  1. Lots of feedback sucks but there are thoughtful editors out there. have a look at the PARSEC competition. If you email Anne and ask, you'll be able to email your submission. When the competition is through, you'll gain very good feedback - unless you win and then you'll gain a fat check. And it is possible. I worked with last years winner and second place (same girl) who had maybe one story published until then. She enter PARSEC the year before and received good feedback. I entered last year and got feedback which led me to selling the same story elsewhere.

There are good editors out there.

If in doubt, you can always have other writers have a look at your work before you send.

Without feedback, it takes that much longer to learn from your mistakes. Yes it's difficult sometimes, but in the end, worth it.
